Trapped

This is developed from an old pencil drawing I found in a pile of old school stuff a few days ago. I don't know when or why it was drawn, but it seemed a shame to leave it unfinished. I must say I'm rather pleased with the result. <3

As always, every character I create has a story. This character has been with me for a very long time, but because he's quite special to me I've never drawn him or included him in any of my stories. He was originally created as part of the Spectobes:GENESIS universe, but I removed him quite quickly because his own story was already too developed for him to just be used in the background. I'm not likely to draw him again either - it's hard to do him justice on paper.

A horrendous accident in his young adulthood cost him his right arm, severely damaged his heart and lungs and left him with horrific scars and burns all over his skin. A bionic arm replaces his real one, and a mechanical chest implant helps his damaged organs to pump blood around his body - in essence, he has two hearts, one organic, one inorganic. Despite being a promising young doctor and prosthetics surgeon, he is shunned because of his frightening appearance and has been driven into a life of loneliness and sadness. He hides his artificial body parts and his scarred face with bandages, fearing people will think him ugly. He hates his metal body for driving away everyone he loves, and feels trapped by its non-living coldness. Sparks fly from the machinery when he is angry or distressed.

You don't need to know his name - hardly anybody does, they're too scared to ask. For now you can call him The Patchwork Doctor.

If all goes well, I hope to make a small run of prints of this, as well as a few other pieces I've already done and some yet to be started. They might be A5 or A4 depending on what I can afford.

Also I'm aware this looks a bit like Joe. This was drawn most likely before we got together, and is no way intentionally based on him. I just like guys with long luscious hair. <3
