The Boy In The Dress

Quick sketchy thing for my friend Joe who got through the entirety of I.Wish Volume 1 without realising that Iggy was a boy :'D It's very true that I purposefully draw him in a very androgynous way (because he's so young) but I must admit I was surprised. Joe's justification was that he felt like he was unable to assign a gender to Iggy, despite he/his pronouns being used throughout the comic. Even after me confirming that he is indeed male, he still insists on using gender-neutral pronouns because 'I can't ask them what pronouns they want me to use' which I found really sweet in a way <3

So to clarify, Iggy is male, or at least was assigned male at birth and thus far hasn't really questioned that. Maybe that'll change as he grows older but we'll see. I can totally see him finding our quaint human notions of a gender binary and gender stereotypes very silly and not believing in them at all. Iggy isn't afraid to get in touch with his 'feminine' side at all and does loads of stereotypically 'girly' things, and if Lily was to make him a dress he would totally wear it and love it to bits and not give a damn because why the hell not, dresses are super comfy and do the awesome twirly thing and he looks adorable!!
